There is some comfort in knowing that when we go, there are traces of us that will be left behind, preserved by those who care about us. I was thinking about another writer as I wrote the piece, I suppose just letting that person (and myself) know that writing does matter because it's who we are and it's what we'll leave behind, good or bad. It's enough to simply do it. So the focus wasn't so much about death (biological and poetical) as it was about the importance to go on. To simply go on.
And even though we go through terrible dry spells and it's hopeless to come out with a decent poem, it will come when it comes and it will be beautiful and worth waiting for.
I know you saw and connected with that message so I'm grateful that you stopped by, enjoyed it, and made it a favorite.
