thanks for the praise man. Glad you dug it, even if disagreed.
It actually was more of a personal piece than any sort of commentary on the world. The wars I spoke of are more the internal sort I suppose.
I have to respond to this though:
"You spoke of war as if it was a bad thing. It takes either someone very ignorant to the past and the present to think war is a bad thing."
I completely disagree with that. I'm very much a realist and a student of history. I understand that wars have and will always occur, at every level of humanity (and every other animal and plant species) and in every instance of society. That doesn't mean we can't deem upon it the label of "bad" or detrimental. Rape and murder have always happened, it doesn't change the fact that they're bad. I don't think that death is a bad thing, or that we should run from it at all costs, just the natural progression of things. But wickedness can still be present. Men sending other men to their deaths for personal gain is not right, no matter if it has always happened.
And I think people should make their own choices. If they want to smoke and die, fine. Living as long as possible doesn't make you wise. Wisdom is in no way inherent to age anymore.
The idea that we can overcome any obstacle to me is just shortsighted. We are imbued with great "logic and ingenuity" as you say, but humanity has also consistently shown just as much true ignorance, denial and greed in it's time as it has those other two. We will face challenges all along the way, and creating our own will not help us, nor guarantee our survival.
I just wouldn't rush to call people ignorant or ideas ignorant. You're obviously an intelligent opinionated person, and it is always more constructive to explain your ideas, as you mostly did, than to try and degrade the ideas of others.
Thanks for your comment on fake. I wrote it a long time ago, and I thought I could just keep it in its rawness but I'll think about taking your advice.
It wasnt really about talking behind peoples backs, I mean, I am glad you interpretted it that way, and there is nothing wrong with that, the way I wrote it and was thinking about it was in the sense that people call other people fake when really they have no say in the matter, and those accused people are just trying to be themselves. But who are you anyway? Yeah...just something to think about.
I prefer free-verse to rhyme... rhyming poems are usually forced and trite in my opinion, but hey, each to their own lol. If I do rhyme I end up doing structured forms like sonnets... which are really hard.
Yup. Dropped some acid in the weekend and danced like a madman. But I'll shoosh about that.
Thank you for commenting on the lyrics to "Bleed". If you'd like to hear the actual song, please check out the "multimedia" section of the website at http://www.seventh-edge.com . I hope after hearing it, maybe it won't seem so pathetic. I can definitely see how the words can come across as "hokey" without the melody. Please give it a listen, and let me know what you think of the song itself!
