I don't like assumers, I don't like assuming. Something I learned a few years ago is that you never want to look at something and assume what it means. Poetry is much the same you never want to automatically assume what the poet meant. You have to read and reread. To think in different angles.
But in non writing cases, assuming leads to suspicions of things that will make your brain stray in ways that shouldn't be. I hate liars but being suspicious is just as bad.
