Neglect
Neglect is around us everywhere we go. There are people who neglect their children. There are people that neglect their pets. There are even people that neglect to take care of an older person. Neglect is a form of abuse that even though it is not bodily enforced hurts those who are victims of it and should not be ignored. Neglect itself also has many forms. There are physical neglect, emotional neglect, educational neglect (apparently not for animal neglect), and medical neglect.
Physical neglect is when the neglector refuses to or puts off getting the necessary health care. It is also child abandonment, unprovided supervision, not taking a child in leaving it homeless, not providing safety, and not satisfying the child’s physical and emotional needs.
Child neglect is an overwhelming 63% of all proven child abuse cases. Relatives, physicians, nurses, day care personnel, and neighbors close to the victim and/or neglector(s) frequently are the ones to suspect and report, though they mostly report toddlers, preschoolers, and infants. The definition is "type of maltreatment that refers to the failure to provide needed age-appropriate care." It refers to clothing, shelter, food, education, supervision, and medical care, plus other things like feminine products for the preteen.
