Wow. 10 years here and you haven't lost your touch. I salute you. I would love to read your past poems. As much as I love reading new ones from you, I would love to read the beauties you made in your earlier years.
I really hope you'd consider sharing them here.
The compilation of this diatribe was not (probably) the act it appears to be to you. When I was in college studying architecture I had to learn to print with typewriter like speed and accuracy. I sucked at it………so………I opened the dictionary to aardvark and if I couldn't spell it or wanted to add it to my vocabulary I printed it out. I was through the Ss before I was satisfied with my printing but just for fun I completed the task through the Zs. This left me with some 50 pages of 1/4" tall printing (my college vocabulary and spelling list) which occasionally I studied and voila.
This piece is a recounting of this project, which as I recall took me a couple of semesters of my free time's investment. There are like 6,800 or so words with a part in the middle (2,000 or so words) that was a stream of consciousness thing I wrote in reaction to the chore rather than an alphabetical list. You might be surprised what all knowing all these words can do to your consciousness constituent. It seriously broadened my horizons. Granted 99% of the people don't understand me when I use them but I get a real kick out of the thoughts I'm able to construct with them.
When I was young I had a dream that kept coming around over and over. I would flap my arms and take to the skies like a bird but then I kept having to avoid the telephone lines. They were everywhere and I was very frightened to be electrocuted. That's so city boy huh? I hated that dream. Most of my dreams are good, enjoyable even, but I remember very little of them when I wake.
Well gee, this makes me wonder. What kind of bad dreams did you have? When I have a bad dream I try to let my attitude upon waking defeat it. My determination becomes the shape of my dreams coming true. A little bit of adamant tenacity, some blatant flagrancy on that decadent arrogance, and there you have it. Perhaps this is grandiose on the ego trip but it helps me through.
