Thanks Jim. I suppose that is why the title choice.
I won't claim to know anything significant about the dynamics and boundaries of male relationships. But this poem was basically fleshing out an observation of what often proves to be an awkward memory down the road.
You are correct, this dynamic is not often approached or discussed, even by females. Strange world we live in.
" Anything can happen on drunken nights, when codes break down. It seems as though the friend may also be hiding in the open because he too let the code break. You reach an area many men do not want to look at."
You do understand that the "public flashing" is a metaphor right? And as I've said before if you intended for a statement poem to be born - I commend you, job well done. There are poems and poems on this earth - ones with shake your eintire core, and ones that you read and forget about in the next 5 minutes. I am but an observer. I do not deslike your style and yet it does not leave a mark. That is all.
"Someone writes the Dream" is boring because of its lack of emotion. It is a statement poem in my eyes. With that title you could give it a lot of power, you could show in those verses the meaning of a shallow life. If of course your desire was to show just how dull such a life is, how dull life is itself - well you've succeeded. But you know, even that kind of life is anything but boring, even being bored of such a life has more emotion. You just stateted it and left it. Excuse the expression but it was like flashing your genitals in public and somehow making it a dull moment ! Use all the arsenal if you have to, metaphors, comparisons, work the rhyme. Show me something ! of that world you describe. I hope this satisfies you.
