When I was younger, I used to be forced to go and be an active member of my parents religion. I was forced to go to church every morning from 5:30-7:00, Monday through Friday, and then again for several hours on Sunday, all the while I had to teach children about the religion which I was having a spiritual struggle against. I did not believe in it, and I was expected to do so much, much more than mentioned, bless/pass the sacrament, lead the male choir, various odds and ends. I looked at their demands as my own martyrdom for their spirit and not my own. If I had a religion, it would say somewhere that "Belief is the DEATH of rational thought". I kinda think when you believe something, you stop thinking about, or putting thought into it. You just accept it and it kills rational thought. So how could I be a martyr for even my own beliefs when I don't have any.
I don't have many beliefs but I have hunches. I am a Universe Worshiper through and through. I think the Universe, or whatever EVERYTHING is at the same time, "is" "God", because A.) It "is", and B.) What else would God be? God supports us, he sustains us, he created us, (he loves us), we're his children, what is the only thing that can be? The Universe, duh.
Thanks for the comment young, preciate the sentiment. I'm not really an insomniac though, but I had been goin through somethin at the time that I wrote that poem and it just weighed so heavy on me (heart, mind, and spirit) that I couldn't really rest.
