Sleep evades me again
Wakefulness becomes omnipresent.
Coffee flows into my body
In a futile effort to maintain
Some degree of rationality.
During the night I'll lay down
Invite sleep in for a while.
He refuses me once again
He never seems to consent anymore.
I liked this as well. I think that the fact that it is short only makes it sweeter. The context is very relatable. I think almost everyone has had trouble sleeping at one point. I like the personification: Invite sleep in for a while. He refuses me once again He never seems to consent anymore. Good write. LeAnna
I like this, even though it was short, it worked. It helped the idea of hopelessness at not being able to sleep.
I can completely relate to this poem, as me = insomniac as well. I like the idea that you invited sleep, didn't demand it to come, didn't expect it to come, just invited it. A nice choice of words.
