Pat, you know, is the Goddess of the Corner.
She has many names: Pat, Pattimus, Goddess of the Corner/Guard, Mommy Pattimus. Usually, though, she is just Pat. We find it easier, since it's only one syllable.
Regardless of her name, she is the one person we all idolize, regardless. Even the 'normal' people acknowledge her wonderfulness.
Pat makes things out of duct tape. She can sew with cloth, creating incredible things, but duct tape is 'her' medium. Dresses, shoes, purses, hats, bags- I myself have a messenger bag with a purple rose emblazoned on the front. It gets more use than my old backpack used to, and it holds up quite well.
Everyone puts her on a pedestal, so I think she is quite lonely, despite having many friends. We all worship her in her gentleness, kindness. Everyone, secretly, tries to emulate her. The older people invite her places, and she seems to genuinely have a good time, but still she has a saddened, aura, like a loner who wants desperately to fit in.
She is shorter than me, but that isn't saying much, since I am tall for a woman. She is very slender, most of us could probably wrap our arms around her twice comfortably. If we bent that way. Her light brown hair is jaw-length, and streaked with white-blonde highlights. I've never noticed the color of her eyes, as they are always hidden behind her glasses. Wonderful glasses, that fit her pixie face- they are black framed rectangles.
If you based your idea of her solely on her appearance, you might think her a fragile blossom that needs careful care and protection. And, you would be partially right.
However, she is stronger than she looks. She is the person everyone turns to when they have a problem, or need a hug, or want someone to talk to. She is one of those people-magnets.
She does have a weakness, however. The men close to her cause her pain, and for that, everyone wants to rise up and tear their throats out. She won't let us. Even in tears she is kind.
Although she denies it, Pat is beautiful. I do not know if it is the physical kind, or something that radiates from a deeper place, but she is beautiful.
Someday she will realize her own worth, and rise above everything we could ever know.
I hope I am there to see it |
