The Devil is a clever chap
    who justifies your strongest doubt.
    Suggestions slyly seep like sap,
into your thoughts to set sin's trap,
convincing you there's no way out.

Yet God provides an iron clad track
Christ leads along a narrow path.
His Word repels each aimed attack.
Repentance, faith will draw you back,
    regardless of sin's aftermath.

As Satan sets each fiendish snare,
in hopes to lull and lure you in,
when life serves more than you can bear,
should you succumb and slip in there,
    remember, Jesus conquered sin.

Stand up! Or you'll have no defense
against each lie which will compound.
For God gave you in recompense
His Son, the Truth, at great expense.
By love and faith you have been bound.

Stand up! Be counted in the fold.
    Reject the Devil's wicked schemes.
Though trials aplenty mock and scold,
your tendered faith is Heaven's gold,
for nothing here is as it seems.

Greg, you always manage to put it so simplistically and straightforward. I, once again, enjoyed this. We all battle sin everyday and that is evident around this lil ES world. But we all need reminders and some need enlightenment such as this. Stand UP and FIGHT people! Dont let peer pressure and wanting to "be cool" keep you from being a good person. Everyone hates that word "fighting"...ummm...fighting against evil is cool. Even the US government knows it and has made it a law that it is o.k. to commit a felony in order to stop someone who is commiting a felony, ya know?
Thanks for sharing. As always you have a great way of stating things.

I really like this piece. I love the way you out such simple truth and encouragement into verse and rhyme. I especially like the last line, "for nothing here is as it seems." I assume that by "here" you mean Earth. It's hard to remember a lot of time that our soul purpose here is to serve God, and anything else is a gift from God or a trick of the devil.
