The Void

A deep, forsaken darkness
In the depths of every soul
Lies in hopes of love come true-
Waits to smother the seeping cold.

This empty block void exists,
Searching for a heart that's true-
And when it cannot find a love,
It becomes twisted and cruel.

Sometimes the heart gets shattered
And seemingly betrayed from above-
It emerges, yet, to hatred sold,
The void ne'er to be filled with love.

I agree with the first commet. Well staged and expressive. My view of voids differ a bit in that out of a void is actually the creative force be found. So it must be filled with everything in existance. What you create there is what you desire. So dear Rosie create love and compassion and that is what you will receive eventually. The shattered pieces are not gone, pick it up and ply-bond Love and restore it to its place. Try my Death Declined and maybe you will find something there. Keep going. Joachim

I really liked the soul-cold pseudorhyme in the first stanza. The second was a little bit tougher (true and cruel) for my tastes, but then again, what do I know? The dropping of the 'v' in 'never' was also a very good technique.

Keep writing!

well, let me say that i think that this piece is well writen. the subject matter is something that we have all faced. i sense a deep longing, a yearning if you will for love. the need for true love is as central to mans existence as is the very air that we breath. i believe that this work does bring out the desperate need of a person to experiance an honest love. your poem took me to the core of my being and caused me to face some real issues of my own emotional make up.

i really love this line"Lies in hopes of love come true-
Waits to smother the seeping cold." it give me the idea of how true flaming love can consume the cold that is such a felt need within a state of forlorness.

learn this quick love is at the root of all of our needs and only absolute love can quench the seeping cold of a soul. that love is ot an attribute but a person, Jesus Christ. God truly is love. so, if you find your heart in need of love turn to yout creator and find it there. Christ is waiting for you to accept Him in your heart and life.

great write.
