    dotsThe Dogdots

I rolled from my makeshift bed in the alley where the steam rolls from the grates in the ground. The matted mange adorning my poor head jutted at odd angles in every direction imaginable. The second hand gloves I had grabbed from some garbage can gave way, and every fiber seemed to break with every miniscule move of my mangled hands. My torn jacket spoke of a modest existence, and my salvaged outfit screamed insanities to the stuffy executives that scurried by every morning.
Drifters dragged themselves down dirty streets every morning, and the unbearable sadness seeping from behind their bright eyes burned my broken heart. The bearded men pushed carts filled to the brim with every possession committed to their wordly name. Army jackets and angry faces passed my alley every morning. Designer suits and empty hearts bustled busily by my alley every single day. Powerful men with empty souls scurried by without a second glance.
My only friend, my true companion, was my trusty dog. He never left my side when lady luck turned for the worst. Always there with a happy wag and a hearty howl, I found a loyalty unknown in his noble eyes. Tired, poor, and hungry, we struggled together. We formed a bond beyond all great loves. But just as all good things must come to an untimely end, all great loves must, aswell, come to some great part.
Pain gripped my haggard heart as my faithful dog, my trusted companion, my one true love, did not wake up. The grief too much, and the sadness too great, my heart gave in to this great weight upon my chest. Streams of sadness twisted and turned down my forgotten face. My everything has been stripped away, and now my love, my one source of happiness is, too, gone. The years of hardship have taken their toll, and I feel a sense of peace as I fall asleep with my joy one last time. For the last time, we curled up together in that alleyway of heartbreak. Just as my mutt never awoke, I gasped my final few breaths into his tangled fur.
