    A carpenter born in Nazereth
was tormented and then put to death
    by the people he'd trust
    who wear symbols of just..
how he died, on a chain round their necks..

My mom always said she thought that wearing a cross was stupid bc Jesus died on a cross. His death was intentional though and a great message to those he trusted and those who condemned him. It's a message of advocacy.

Just curious with the contraction here...as it would make a difference to me in the way I read it. Is it:

    1) by the people he HAD trust...or...
    2) by the people he WOULD trust?

Only trying to understand. Either way...I cannot imagine that the "Carpenter" had put his trust in any of them...

All of them steadily became irritated with our Carpenter who was re-directing the people "they" were misguiding...we can see some parallels in this pattern today. The Carpenter was merely sharing truth and knowledge...thereby exposing their lies. People don't like that stuff!

By the way...if the Carpenter had had long hair, as some pictures depict...he would have been arrested long before his time...as it was not customary for "common" jews to have hair as long as the "priests" of that time.

Also...If someone I loved, were struck with a bullet and killed...I, as his parent, would be offended if all who knew (or claimed to know) him wore a bullet as a reminder of his tragic death...around their neck...or anywhere for that matter. This would be an insult to me...and it would hurt my feelings. This leaves me to question the "history" of this "symbol" you bring to your write. I suspect, that it goes long, long before our Carpenter died on our behalf.

I cannot see or share the humor that Aya suggested...but I can see you searching for the deeper things of life. I pray to the Father of this One you write of, that you will finally begin to find your answers...

ooo, this is good. I have to say, that the last line has to be my favorite line, because I can just imagine a bunch of people wearing the cross around there necks proudly. I like this how its like they killed me, and then they worship me not. But there's a deeper meaning to this, about the last line about they sin, but wear the necklace around their neecks and proudly preach to others about how they should live the'r lives, and then go cheart on their wives and husbands. Anyway, this is a good write, and it made me laugh. Great job.
