    This new world--
    so rapid, so instant--
has grown as thin and empty
    as a starving gazelle.

Good correlation with the dead gazelle and speed of the present. Nobody stops to enjoy nature now and just exhaust their resources for the culmination of empty 'success.' Since it's so small I would revise the first line to be more specific. Could have a used a description. It's a very strong write. Well done. You encompassed connections well in those 4 lines.
