I remember how it felt to take your pants off
when you knew you weren't supposed to
and the snaps screamed how wrong it was
and you zipped and forgot them
only worrying whether you were cool enough for this

we were little kids playing grown up
    drinking shots wtih krazy straws
and ripping our designer jeans in the knees
too young to drink and to old to know we know better
so we did worse and committed our sins together

and i remember how it seemed so slow
when we were rushing through our wrongness
leaning against doors, and slamming our elbows against the wall
    and it hurt like anxiety
and dexters lab was on tv and the volume was louder than our anticipation

we were too young to blame our mistakes on other people
and too old to know we knew it was our fault
and i remember how we yanked up our jeans
and unlocked our doors and laughed
like we'd gotten away with so much
instead of giving so much up

Wow, this makes me almost speechless...
The title is perfect for this poem, and sadly, this generation cuz I even know some friends younger than me that "play grown up"...it saddens me.
I really like this, there's no way that I can't add this to my favorite's list. Such talent, lol. Peace for now friend!
