She sees him standing next to the tree leaning on one foot shoulder touches bark she walks over arms across her chest shielding herself she reaches him too fast too soon words fly mouths work his eyes grow big hers begin to water he shouts at her 'lies,' he yells, 'All lies.' she tells him it's over there is nothing there he takes her shoulders shakes her fast her head rolls on her neck she closes her eyes willing it to end he shoves her pushes her to the ground her face pressed to the grass she watches an ant crawl along a blade as he yells at her screams 'bitch' spit 'i ain't no cheat.' pulling at her hair pinching her skin he punches and kicks she huddles together holding her knees to her chest shielding herself she reaches Him too fast too soon. |
