       This is something I wrote for class. It is a parody on E.B. White's "What is Democracy?" It's one of only two assignments I ever got an A+ on (thanks, Ms. Brewer!).

    What is Equality?

    Surely everyone knows what equality is.

    Equality is being fair in the midst of an unfair system.

    It is going against the grain and demanding change, only to be thrown down and silenced, just like everyone else.

    It is something that everyone believes in, but no one accepts.

    It has no definition, but it means everything in the world.

    It means bringing up the poor and throwing down the rich.

    It is something for which wars have been started, and have never been stopped.

    It is something for which countries have crumbled, nations have fallen and hope was hope was temporarily lost.

    Equality is the condition under which everyone is begotten under the same roof, from the same source, with the same chances and opportunities for failure and success.

    Equality is 6 billion peas in a pod.

    Sometimes, equality means having the riches of kings;

    And sometimes just sometimes it means having the misfortunes of everybody else.
