    (unknown soldier)
So much damage as I stare at the aftermath
Of Katrina and what that womanís wrath did to my habitat
The storm that left my city less than half intact
The cityís spell is fading so Iím a fight to bring magic back
Watch the drama unfold as I take you through tragic acts
But weíll survive and thrive because here we have a knack for that
This may be one of my saddest tracks
Trying to deal with this madness, blacks
Fire at helicopters so the military blasts us back
Moving slow but we still crash, collapse
And start regressing through this max relapse
As government officials hide the facts, perhaps
Theyíre trying to box us in, too bad we know the trap is vast
But some get caught and they cart the bodies away in sacks of trash
And yet the hustle continues cuz the feds never find the stash of crack
George W. hates us cuz here he gets bashed in raps
As we try to get more and hope what we already have will last
This is Mississippi River Sadness and depression fits the mood
Iím fighting through this madness, singing my Crescent City Blues

This is for those who wonder why we plunder
Trying to fight off this hunger after my city was torn asunder
By the wind, water, and the crack of the thunder
Circle the drain, as we get washed down the gutter
Sick of the feds, bullshit, and blunders
Somebody help me cuz Iím going under

    (young p)
N.O. was the place where I had my first celebration
My first laugh, first tear, first play station
N.O. was a beast until the Katrina revelation
We left and it felt like a long vacation
Going in and out of homing stations
    We became an unsteady nation
I thank those whose help we were handed
I mean FEMA helped some people and left others stranded
    God dammit!
Why did it have to hit my city?
    Donít show me pity
Iím alright, Iím gonna make it through
Have pity on those who ainít here with me and you
You couldnít have tried to walk in their shoes
I could write all night but now Iím checking out
    You what this rapís about
    Oh yeah
I canít leave without saying thanks for helping out

This is for those who wonder why we plunder
Trying to fight off this hunger after my city was torn asunder
By the wind, water, and the crack of the thunder
Circle the drain, as we get washed down the gutter
Sick of the feds, bullshit, and blunders
Somebody help me cuz Iím going under

killing time with a rhyme and a whim/
i take the memories with film cause my clarity is wearing thin/
and i need heavier gear to weather the cold/
whether you're old or young, the story is told/
in the same way, the same slang, same people, on the that same day/
how we all when crazy by Saturday/
    and
every other minute, i think of how simple it could've been for the men in charge to help us/
so we just walk a little more weary when we visit the gyms that a year ago were shelters/
im still shocked at how my block's so decrepit/
and the writings on the red bricks are these massive orange x's/
    with either a O or a 1 underneath/
i pace the beach in a hurry fearing the fluid beneath my feet/
and i still read papers looking for a FEMA pay day/
so that these cresent city blues can someday fade to gray/

This is for those who wonder why we plunder
Trying to fight off this hunger after my city was torn asunder
By the wind, water, and the crack of the thunder
Circle the drain, as we get washed down the gutter
Sick of the feds, bullshit, and blunders
Somebody help me cuz Iím going under

wow! did you watch that documentry"when the levys broke"? watching that and finding out all that horrible information about what really went down during Katrina made me sick to my stomach. you know what though, it's never too late to write about it....so that's what I'll do.
You stated basically everything here, the only thing your missing is about why they didn't even want to fix the broken levy to begin with.
great, you need to get your [censored] pattented so that it's protected and other people can't still your [censored], it's what i'm about to do.

This would make a good rap song if it's not already!

I am trying not to cry here. Although, I'm from Baton Rouge, born and partly raised, I can still feel the pain here and relate to the images you speak of due to what I saw on TV. I use to have to go Tulane hospital for cardiac health, and it broke my heart to see it and Charity ruined, I spent time at Charity, hell that place saved my life, and to know it is gone, the I-10...the superdome wrecked. It is just a shame. All 3 of you expressed yourself so well. I loved each part and felt this may be the best work I've seen at Elite. You made momma proud here. This is a fav.
