Description:

This is not the end...

There,
lying still,
in a blackened pool
rests a phantom form.
Broken, beaten,
torn, sore,
without hope,
without help.

Lost
and dying,
prostrate one,
giving up on life.
Longing
for something,
or anything,
or nothing,
uncertain and confused.

Light
from no where
and a spirit's form
glowing, rising,
resting nearby,
offering peace,
holding out life.

Angel,
guide and friend,
helper of the lost,
wanting, hoping,
wishing, trying,
to extend a hand
and raise the beast.

Willing,
so ready,
to sacrifice self,
to aid,
to comfort,
to love,
if only she is asked.

Reach,
take hold,
catch the light.
Caged one, be free.
Broken one, be healed.
Lost one, be helped.
Phantom, be loved.
This is not the end...

phantom self, lifting sight long enough to see help within almost an arm's reach, if only you can reach... Forgive me, but I am drinking (as is my habit lately, to drink and overthink), and this is lovely... I don't think it's about a real angel or even maybe a real "someone that just wants to help someone else," but more the answer to the overwhelming question, as Eliot would have put it...

While you're going down, you know what will lift you up... you know, even when you don't know, because it's like the gene of self-preservation keeps it all in check subconsciously... It's just a matter of accessing and working with that ingrained information.

Caged one, be free.
Broken one, be healed.
Lost one, be healed.
Phantom, be loved...

The one thing that comes to mind is "You have to reach rock-bottom before you find your way back up again." I guess that is true. You have to truly lie on the bottom, in order to gauge and actually appreciate the dizzying height of the top. Phantom, be loved... refill yourself, re-form yourself, re-establish shape and life through the light that you have to crawl to, reach for, make the effort to chase, in order to regain Self. That's what we're all doing anyway, isn't it? Looking for some light in this dark, [censored]ed up world.... Hell yes! There is no end, as long as there is hope.

hmm...because you used to word phantom i automatically thought of phantom of the opera...and that last bit about phantom be loved, well that fit in...so thanks for making me think of that...
now on to your actual piece...i think that it needs a title...but other than that i didn't feel like it was lacking anything...the first time through i wanted a bit more detail, more description instead of you just telling, but the second time around i really liked the format...good word usage and it was minimal and simple...which worked for this piece...
i'm not exactly sure as to what you're talking about though, if you're talking about an actual angel or if you're talking about someone that just wants to help someone else...but the good thing is that i don't have to understand who you're talking about to enjoy the piece...
