Writing is an emotional outlet that is often abused and rarely used to its full potential. It is in itself an expressive art form yet, unlike art it is restricted by rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
A good writer takes these rules with a pinch of salt; some ignore convention completely. Take Shakespeare as an example, he threw caution to the wind by writing to his own agenda and now he is renowned as one of the greatest playwright's of all time.
Just to commend all you aspiring poets, authors and columnists out there for using your own iniative. Let this be a reminder to people that poems do not have to rhyme, prose does not need a storyline and stories do not necessarily always have a beginning, a middle and an end. |
