A Second Wind

you gaze into a cheval glass the face you were now overcast
the outward vent of inner bleeding your kindred soul no longer breathing
sickles reach for your mournful ghost more vigilant than the darkness hopes
a portrait of yesterday rinsed in spirits becomes the mural of this dour day
you call on power to become a phoenix touched by blinding strength, a helix of scorching flame, outreaching through the grey winter sky
