dotsAnd Earth inhales her still, still breathdots

    Creaking shadows of darkness falling
'neath aching cover o' ground she's crawling
unearthly moans of woe she's calling
And Earth inhales her still, still breath
    Uncomley grains of dirt evading
Senseless crys of death still fading
    The shameful shallow stench invading
And Earth inhales her still, still breath
The dark, dead trees of old are wailing
her cold and frozen cheek is paling
    moonlight through the grasses trailing
And Earth inhales her still, still breath
Impossible hopes are filled with walking
She moves again and dreams of talking
A delusion of life, it still is stalking
And Earth inhales her still, still breath

Oh, this is soooo excellent!! A potent piece with exceptional rhyming that grabs you by the lapels! (one small quibble: the contractions in line two do not really fit with the rest of the poem, they give it an archaic sound lacking in the rest of this fine poem.) I loved it, loved it, absolutely loved it! bravo... bravo... bravo...

This is absolutely stunning! The subject of death is a drammatic mystery to mankind, and I think the title and signature line to this amazing poem captures the subject remarkably! This goes beyond good, and reflects absolute poetic genius!

I think we shall all see your name in lights one day, lovely lady! Well done!!

I missed reading something like this. This is a real masterpiece in my mind. I like dark poetry and you really exceeded all the expectations so I'm going to put this into my favourites.

Very dark sounding as are many pieces of work by writers who are influenced by Poe and also the Goth thing. I like it pretty well, but always write from your heart, spirit and mind. I'm sure you have many feelings and emotions that you want to get across. Write in layers! Get to the good, bad and the ugly of the subject! lol! I know that's the name of a movie! lol!
