have you let the hope escape your head?
do you dwell on all the hurtfull things i have said?
forced yourself to forget all we could have had
only remembering how easy it was to make me mad
im sorry

its to late now i know
but of this hope i shall never let go
for your my dream
your all that keeps me clean
so when you grab his hand in yours
know that i will never close these doors

for i am trapped in the past
conjuring up ways to try and make it last
i dont want to better me or you
i want US to be what makes it through

Seems you screwed up pretty bad. This reminds me of my dad and what happened with his wife. It's true he keeps those doors open even after a year and it does him no good.
