    Blood for Salt

I touched the purplish black ceiling of thunderclouds
And felt the rain fall between my fingers.
Then I turned left and ran into a pink stucco wall.
My knuckles bled - I sucked them clean
    And I wondered why
    Someone would eat salty peanuts
    When they could eat Macadamia
Nuts picked by a girl who teaches
Hula to tourists on Wednesday night?

Well this is coincidental. I just opened this page and read the first two lines and it started raining.
For a first piece I found this rather disjointed, I am unclear on how the transition from blood to salt is made.
Suddenly from the knuckles salty peanuts are being wondered about and a hula girl.
Would be thankful if you could explain.
    Cheers, keep writing.
