A poem about my friends and how they look when they find out I cut..

dotsDon't look at me that way...dots

    You look at me
With such pain in your eyes
    I am sorry
For all the mistakes and lies

    You saw the cuts
    And asked why
Your questions met with an excuse
    I wanted to cry
    But it's no use

    My rotted soul quivered
    and awoke with feelings
    The numbness faded
    With all these things

I am sorry for putting you
    Through such pain
I don't know why I do the things I do
Please don't look at me that way

    Such a disappointment
    In those eyes of yours
    For everytime I slip
    And make my blood pour

    I love you
    But I hate me
    What don't you understand?
    Why can't you see?

    Why do you stay?
    When I hurt you so
    So many things to say
    And no where to go

    Everytime I hurt myself
    I hurt you too
    I am so dumb
    Such a selfish fool

    I am sorry
    For all that pain
    But I am begging you
Don't look at me that way...

This poem really affected me because that is where I am right now. I just found out that a friend of mine has been cutting...has been for quite a while and it does hurt. It makes me feel like I wasn't enough, didn't do enough for him. So I definately understand the feelings of pain and disappointment that the speaker talks about here. When I was reading it, I could just hear him talking, here him telling me these things, things that I wish he would say, instead of this awful silence. I just thought that this was a very honest poem and one with a lot of emotion. Great write and thanks.
