    Description:
       Having said goodbye before I know that fare-thee-wells are none too permanent. One comes and goes and others do the same. Terms and conditions are even more ephemeral. Change is the one thing we can rely on fully.

    How a wanting aches…
    and there is no instant remedy -
    nor, as far as I can tell, a long
    term cure for this strange malady.

    But, there is some relief
    in having had a moment alone;
    surely there is some solace
    in having melted stone?

    Old boys know just how
    and where to find a fit but fickle
    phrase with which to charm
    while eating warm, sour pickles.

    Distances between to stare at
    and faint, fading traces in the dust
    are the lion hunter’s age old trail
    bereft of love, anger or lust.

    One last dance then left for
    auld langsyne and a favoured friend -
    danced awkwardly awry to allow
    two like hearts to fully rend.

      mate.

    there is a resonance here that is uncanny - i have just done, posted and almost immediately removed a journal for my dad, who died 2 weeks ago. and the sentiments are not dissimilar: there is a gap when what you need is hooked out from under your nose. there is an art in filling it eventually and by that, i mean there is no rush but, in the interimeanwhile there is a floundering dizziness to be dealt with - artfully if we can...

    and we press on and as for your pom well, it is well considered as ever, with all the mechanisms that make a pom a pom on show.

    your work strikes me as crie de coeur, contained only by convention; a convention that you're just about to start round 10 with...

    take it easy mate.
    i know what you mean.
    and if you missed what i wrote for my dad well, you didn't

    i miss him like salt.
    this salt lick of a man;
    this depository of trace elements;
    this supository of spiritual effervescence.
    all gone
    and on his way,
    into the purple and green high peaks.
    and maybe one day
    a return to his imperfect knee -
    (that creaking mechanism designed to be sat at)
    but
    in the meanwhile
    aches
    and unbidden gasps;
    anger
    and well camouflaged pooh traps;
    momentary dislocations of expectation,
    (for which there is no immediate treatment regime).
    good.
    because as someone said and/or once wrote:
    'pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
    pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods'
    for there is time to be sad -
    and it should be made the most of...
