    dotsThe Ash Paradedots

    Our bellies are gardens,
    Some lacking the comfort
    Of fulfillment of orchids.
    Poppy seeds
    Lull to sleep
    Us opiate organics;
    Just like simple barren land.
    Lattice work
    Supports ashen
    Vine-wine nourishment,
    Dehydrating our enzymes
    And sacrificing the rose color
    Of our aerated blood.
    Our bones create
    Looming shadows
    Onto the skin that
    Matches our
    Sunless sky.
    We live in an
    Empty garden.
    In days long gone,
    We were proud
    Of our
    It meant we were
    Above the starving
    Soil that we
    Threw to those plagued
    With want.
    Now, we rid ourselves
    Of colorful
    Fragrances and
    By any means.
    We ignore our
    Ignore the lure
    Of flowers.
    We throw up
    And give our
    Breath the stench
    Of rejected stems.
    We fear death,
    Placing flowers on
    Its doorstep,
    Yet, we want
    To match
    Its façade
    That we call beauty.
    Of a lack of
    Scented flowers
    In their bellies,
    Children tell
    Mothers to stay strong.
    Our race
    Of races will
    Walk through gardens,
    An Ash Parade
    In the belly,
    Meeting Ash Flowers
    Along the way.
