Why do we always seem to want what we can't have,
Why do we always go for the things that we can't grab?
Why do we always love the people that wont love us back,
Why do we always become friends with people that will stab us in the back?

Why do we never love the nice guys that will treat us right,
Why do we never do the things we know are right?
Why do we never follow the rules when we know that we should,
Why do we never do something when we know that we could?

Why don't we ever stop to think before we do things,
Why don't we ever think about how much pain it brings?
Why don't we ever turn out how people want us to,
Why don't we ever do the things that we're supposed to do?

The answer is simple, here you see,
We do these things to see what there can be.
We defy our parents to see if we can get away,
We skip school even though we have to go the next day.
So if you ever wonder why you did something before,
Just remember it was because you wanted to explore.
