    dotsThe Old Mandots

    Scratch the surface
    so smooth and worn
    of fantastic stories
    told from the mouth
    of the old man traveling,
    of days lived longer
    solid opinions prevail
    although his body grows old
    his tounge grows stronger,
    mouthpiece to the generations
lost to the hands of Eve.
    skin draped loosely
    upon bamboo bones
    slowly being devoured
    by times hungry husk.
    listen closely
    for time eats us all
    and slowly digests us
    into the broad body
    of history's muscle.
