    The Beauty...

One night, an ancient god who lay sleeping, began to dream of a beauty. In his dream the beauty became more and more real. Gentle curves floated in the air, and two sparkling lights as if diamonds moved as one, in one direction and then another. From the curves, two slender lines were drawn together at the opposite end from the lights. Closer to the lights, two smaller lines were pulled out from the curves. These were not together, but opposed to each other. Each of the four lines gently tapered to five smaller ones, and each of them was tipped with a ruby that sparkled as well, but not so brightly as the diamonds.

As the god breathed, an opening in the beauty appeared, just below the lights, and above the lines. Not visible, but audibly from the opening, the god thought he heard a faint sound. Still asleep, he held his breath and turned his head in order to listen to the sound, and he thought it was a song. As the curves began to take a form, two smaller openings appeared to the sides of the lights and, as the god began to breathe again, the beauty seemed to turn toward the god as well. One of the lines reached out to the god, whose own hand moved instinctively toward the beauty.

In my dream, the godís fingers were as fiery suns, and as one finger neared one of the rubies, its light made the ruby glow brightly. In moments, the four other rubies were also glowing. The light raced through the beauty, lighting the rubies on the opposite side and down to the ten at the other end as well. As the god turned in his bed, his finger moved away, but he continued to dream. A moment after the god turned, the glow of all the rubies began to move toward the center of the beauty and, as the glows met, they joined in the center of the beauty and began to pulse . . . bright and dim, bright and dim, bright and dim.

The god awoke to the sound of a beautiful song and he no longer needed to hold his breath to hear it.
