KNIGHT’S PLEDGE TO HIS LADY
Lest not a day shall pass without your smile,
My heart has carved its image deep inside.
‘Twill be your happy face that shall beguile
My thoughts and dreams at night, my dearest bride.
Your laughing eyes as blue as azure sea
Reflect the way my love has reached its height
And touched the heavens clouds in softest kiss.
Your charms have captured heart and soul of me;
I long to hold your body through the night
And feel forever-warm embrace of bliss.
Today I wed the one I so do love;
And, with these words, I vow to honor you.
My sweet, we both shall fly on wings of doves
For never has there been a love so true.
Do take my hand; I offer it in trust.
My heart is yours; it sings today in joy.
You bring into my life the brightest sun.
Until the day my body turns to dust,
These feelings I’ll, with love and care, deploy.
This ring I give to you, my dearest one.
Like evening stars that brightly fill the sky,
So shall our years together intertwine.
Your wants and needs are mine to satisfy;
Our love shall age through time like finest wine.
The two of us shall be but one in whole.
My lady love, I tender you this pledge.
My heart shall beat with yours in true accord.
Your love has found its place within my soul,
And never shall emotion lose its edge
For I’m forever blessed by its reward.
