Look, do you see my strength?
Four dollars at the Country fair.
The shiney bald man said it would last forever,
But I think it's running low these day's.

    Oh, over here!
I got this at a little shop
    Outside of Newport Bay.
Soul's are hard to find for a good price.
This picture doesn't do it justice,
But that's what it used to look like.

And here are the pieces of my self esteem.
    Some clumsy, inconsiderate little boy
    Broke it back in '97.
It used to be so beautiful...

Oh, that thing in the corner?
    That's my fear and insecurity.
No, I got those for free.
All of my friends, family and lovers pitched in.
The bow on top came from the boy from '97.
    He said he was sorry.

This is a powerful but extremely sad piece... I do not understand much of it but what I do (if I do!) allows me to read in between the lines...it seems as if it is a strong and very self assured person on the surface--some one who does not suffer fools gladly--but someone who is quite broken on the inside...poetically I think it a very excellent poem... bravo ... bravo ... bravo ... michael
