the sky above is shining bright
but that won't help me through the night
i'd like to stand and try to fight
but, God knows, i can't do anything right

so that leaves me in a hell
    with nothing more to give
a place i know too well
    ravages my will to live

pieces of my soul are the price to pay
for living a lie day after day
faking it like i wasn't just in the way
pretending i had something important to say

so that leaves me in a hell
    with nothing more to give
a place i know too well
    ravages my will to live

    now i've tried to see
    a better way to be
    no matter what i do
    one thing still rings true

i've been lost inside a hell
never had too much to give
    it's a place i know too well
    slowly draining
    the will
    to live

This is an excelent poem, but sound more like lyrics to me. After i read the words i had to make a rythym to sing it to. The second go i sang your poem as if it were a song, and it raised long dead memories, and brought tears. I don't know what that means to you, but from someone as souless and empty as myself it was a great read!
