    Description:
Today is my 29th birthday and I must say, its been quite nice. Very peaceful and quiet. I even wrote a little poem about - not trying to change the world here. The purpose of this is to reflect a belief of mine that people should not forsake the simple funs in life. This poem is pure feeling.

    Hope you enjoy.

    Thank you Lord for:

    Schizophrenic squirrels,
    panicked over nothing
remind me to walk more slowly.

    Sales on Rebel tee-shirts,
navy as the 7:30 January sky,
though it isnít quite my color

The blonde I met at the coffee shop.
Her boyfriend's on a baseball scholarship
and sheís a friend I didnít have before.

    For Tom and Erin and
tamales made by southern cooks that
show Iím no longer lonely as the

    cactus of the arid desert,
    armored in it's spines,
    greedy for its own water.

    Unsuspecting brim
    I catch and never keep.
Do show me this same mercy.

    Iím 29 today and
    thank you, God.

The bonsai tree is doing well
    in spite of the
    sometimes timid sun.

WOW...see this is blissful and so reflecting on growing older without the melancholy gloom and doom of *OMGood Lord I'm aging* feel.

I love the passing thoughts moving like soft water in calm blue hues of remembrance like this:

    Schizophrenic squirrels,
    panicked over nothing
remind me to walk more slowly.

You know it's normally roses right, that people use in reference to slowing down and smelling the beauty of life around you and here you use it in such a refreshing light...it's very good.

But this is an amazing tone right here:

    Sales on Rebel tee-shirts,
navy as the 7:30 January sky,
though it isnít quite my color.

You are taking snippets of day to day things and turning them poetically into poetry in motion...like growing older itself...we move from one frame of age to the next and if we just become a little more aware and thankful of just being able to breathe...ahhh what a blessing it would be.

Yes I will be back...you have an pure poetic voice that is better then photographs.

what you highlight in this poem is brilliant.

I do the same thing sometimes, there are all these subtleties ideoscyncracies in life that you just have to learn to appreciate.

often times, it is the small or maybe simple things in life that make the journey even more enjoyable, and you brought that to light in this poem.

Im only half your age, but I want you to know that now Im excited about one day turning 29, because if today, I am already thankful about a lot of the little things, imagine years from now, and how many more little things there will be.

thank you, and happy new years (in plural for 2007 and your bday)

This is a lovely little piece. You kept it light, but it stays firmly away from fluffiness while still being very happy, and sweet. Happy birthday, may this year be your best.
