What a vile and nefarious world we've become,
Religious wars fought in the name of a false deity,
An ever growing presence of narcissistic egos,
Children dying from their intemperate creators.
Existence for us a mere perforation in time,
Yet we plunder our gifts for inconsequential goals,
Wealth is overrated, love too easily understated,
Poverty could be easily cured, but alas our greed endures.
We've become a society of voyeurs and idealists,
Watch the horror, but refuse to acknowledge it,
Everyone's a guilty party, but no-one accepts blame,
Eyes kept closed, as bad as the murders hand. |
