A mothers Smile

In today’s world what is more important, computer science or art? Each person has a different opinion I am sure, but when you get out into the modern world, which one will be more useful? Computer science is useful in the world, but only in a few areas. Art expands parts of your mind you did not know were there. Art encourages creativity, and it keeps you thinking. Computer science is great, if you enjoy things of that nature.

In art class, you are taught to express yourself and your ideas. Who wouldn’t enjoy seeing the thoughts in their heads put into concrete ideas? Art class encourages you to think of new possibilities. When you are working in the real world coming up with new innovative ideas is a great way to be promoted to a higher position. Art will help in so many more areas than computer science will.

Many people would disagree with that statement, yet think for a moment. Most people are constantly using computers for everyday tasks in the modern day world. How often do you take the time to sit back, and relax? Who today has much time for such things? In art you stop thinking and worrying about every little thing in life. You can just worry about the lines of a mother’s smile, or how to express the way you are feeling through words. Doing this relieves a lot of stress. Getting the thoughts that consume you out of your head helps a lot in keeping stress levels down, which is a problem for many people. They can never stop worrying.

Also, many kids today are never exposed to art, or even think of trying it, the same kids use computers everyday. Why should you continue teaching something many kids already know to much about, when you can offer a class that they can learn from, and enjoy, for the rest of their lives? Computer science teaches you things about computers that you may not learn just by using it, but how many people really need to get that technical with their computer?

There are many people today that never take the time to sit down and think of what they could create, of what art they could contribute to the world. Yet too many sit down to zone out on their computer for hours. What you create does not have to be a magnificent drawing, or a life like sculpture. Most people do not realize how many doors art opens in your mind. They never get the chance to even realize it. Computers don’t open doors in your mind. They don’t expand. In my opinion, computers make you think less. You aren’t doing much other than tapping a bunch of keys.

If schools were to eliminate art over computer science, they would be making today’s children less rounded people. Art gives you the opportunity to think of things y you may never have otherwise thought of. Many people never even have the opportunity to try art. Also, computers do a whole lot of polluting, where art does not. Art expands, relaxes, and so much more.
