Sprawled out on the rosy pavement
Rests a ripened, expired life
Exposure to his last stand
Pens dignity a divine scroll
Provoke him in both eyes as I
Long open for candid consoling
The image reproduced while in use
And knighted man so willing to peruse
Once per use if you should choose
Your life he takes on, all his own
Whatever he can to the scene loan
All the mortal news will ever ruse
Swollen flesh and the departed
Departed, miles aloft of the code
Seduced up a road talking in boasts
And meanwhile, the throbbing parted
And he lies amused, you bemused
Your soul whole, squandering more
The hour has passed forever fast
And to the experience you contrast
Sewn to the bludgeoned concrete
Groans a rotten body, stuffed with cotton
The showcase spectacle of the night
And ago he passed, all too polite
And there the reel unwound
Sharp shards with jagged edges
Constructed through the looking glass
I rest my expired life |
