I actually wrote this back and the end of the summer, but I hadn't done anything with it until now. For some reason, now just seemed like a good time to post it, perhaps because it seems to have greater personal meaning for me right now.

    Standing on te corner waiting
    For a half-friend, not a real one
    Dime-a-dozen, easy to get
    Easy to lose, replaceable
Buy them in blue glass jars
Two-pence pieces at the corner store

    Standing on the corner waiting
    Glance down an alley
    There's an angel there
With her skirt around her wiast
And a devil between her legs
    And she's the more experienced

    Standing on the corner waiting
Listen to an old man telling me
A year can be a lifetime
And a lifetime can be a year
If that's how long it's been
    Since you started over

    Standing on the corner waiting
    Watching the angst-ridden fakes
    Watching them complain about pain
    Pain hasn't been an issue
Because this has been my rebirth
And birth is supposed to hurt

    Standing on the corner waiting
    for life
