In Palaces Of Porphyry -------------------------------------------
Would that some potent spell transport me far
Beyond this world to realms where Sirens rule,
Where magic dwells deep in some placid pool
And songbirds conjure each an avatar
In twilight at the rising of a star
That redly winks like some translucent jewel
To guard against the lords of all misrule
All hatred, harm and evil so to bar.
And down the long and pastel frescoed walls
Of palaces hand hewn from porphyry,
I hear a Sirenís dulcet madrigals
Sweep from its marble domes down to the sea.
Now here beneath this giant marble dome
I sit beside my love, for I am home.
Fair melodies of the lands we've never known and never will unless we get to know our dreams. Intoxicating and mystic, beautiful haunting words to paint my daydreams and ease my soul. I think I shall name you "Poetmaster".
I loved this. Simply amazing. You have an amazing level of mastery over vocabulary. Words I had never even heard of made sense to me in this poem, and the visuals are beautiful. It sounds like a journey that may or may not end up with a human love or just the love of being in this new place.
Wow, this reads like images recorded in a dream! It is a delightful piece, conjuring strong visual and audio images! I am enthralled about Sirens, and fantasize about the Siren's Song! Really great stuff, this! Man, this poetically may describe what Heaven is like!
