With his eyes blinking vigorously, David tried to focus in on the man standing over him. As he finally recognized the man as his partner, Dan, he gave a sigh of relief.
"Didn't you take yourself a beatin' there ole buddy?"
"I suppose I did, but forget that. Where are we?"
Another man walked over and joined Dan. He was tall and muscular. He was cleaning off his hands with a cloth while given a less then perfect smile.
"So I ain't the only one gotten ma'self into this hea' problem?" He asked in quite a surprising accent.
David layed there with a blank face. He'd never heard someone with such a strong southern accent. He tried to form words, but he could only raise an eyebrow.
"Aye, ya'll never heard a real Texan talk have ya'?" He said laughing.
David cleared his voice, "Umm, no sir I haven't....I....Sorry."
Dan only smiled and chuckled to himself. They lifted David to his feet. He was a bit wobbley, but he finally stood firm.
"Easy there, bud. Don't want ya' hurting ya'self all too soon. Got a big life in front of ya"
"And how would you know I got myself a big future?" asked David.
"Because I'm part of it! Well, my name's John. Get used to it, you're gonna here lot's of it," laughed John.
"Allright then Johnny boy, where to next?" asked Dan.
"Ha, Johnny boy....Well, we're headin' North. Followin' your buddies in scales is our best bet," suggested John.
"Then North it is"
So the three of them set off. However, all three were out for different reasons. Revenge, adventure, and fame.
Still, even after the last problem, David was not expecting their goals to collide to create a problem. |
