    of the body
    is the earth sound
    asleep inside
    the odor of violets
    given off
    by decomposing flesh

    I crack open
    a jar of light
    withdraw my child hands
    from the air and sand
    I grew up in

    I am a lighthouse
    with a neighborly porch
    a living jewel box
    of saffron
    and silk

    an inane hero and
    his double

what a svelte dream this is

    a woman removes her head
    replaces it with a chandelier
I pin a rose of sharon to my lips
trace my eyes circling the lost
    ermines of 2 caresses

    3 blocks down
    2 floors up

    in "un galope
    de claridad nocturna"
    I shove the moon off
    a ship
    devour the earth
    with an iron spoon

    hitch-hike gray clouds
    punctuated by blood
    take off down the street
    toward montreal

    I clean dirt
    from under my fingernails

    pack my bags

    load up the car

    moonless shadows
    join hands and dance
    around the tree of unspeakable

    the wind is holding
    its drum mother

    under the influence of autumn
    when leaves are blowing
my insides are like purple heather
gnashing my teeth on purple heather
