I can't stand all those mushy love songs, and all that romantic crap about bunches of roses and chocolates and sickening-sweetness. I'll coo, I'll awwww..., but on the inside I'm just laughing.

    dotsDeath to Fluffdots

    Forget those sappy love songs
    Forget songs of happy times
    Forget those wayward ballads
    Forget all those cheesey lines

I want a song about forgetting
    A song for apathetic ears
I want a song for melancholia
A song that builds up fears

I've forgotten how to love again
It comes back now and then
    It won't take me long
To find just the right song
And let the words escape my pen

I've been waiting for a rainy day
I write better when the sky is grey
    I've written this page
    Full of anger and rage
Now I'll smile and head out to play

My head is full of love songs
    And other melancholy sounds
And I'm laughing all the while
'Cos my sarcasm knows no bounds

    It's ironic and it's side-splitting
Thoughts of chocolate and of tears
And boquets all made of rose thorns
I'll laugh 'bout this for years

Wow, haha, very amusing. I love the cynicism involved. And, I find I agree with you on several aspects of the philosophy behind the work. All in all, just what I needed, thank you.

I agree with you. While I am a romantic, there's a point where I go, 'Oh please, enough already!'

I really like this a lot. My favorite stanza was the one about the rainy days. I, too, find they are perfect for writing. :)

I like how you capture what a realease writng can be. Good use of irony, as well.
