Description:

I have made a promise to right a poem about my mother each year on Mother's day. This will be my first. It's free verse, and it's everything that was on my mind at the moment. Hope you like it. Comment if you want to.

Happy Mother's Day

Love is such a powerful word
Yet sometimes, saying it is not enough

I said it, without thinking
Not once did the meaning come to mind

I said it, because I heard it
And because you always said it to me first

And you said that word, because you remembered
You knew what you were talking about

Only now that you are gone, do I understand more
I see things I never even saw before

And that is killing me, because I missed my chance
To hug you, to kiss you, to tell you how much I really cared

Love is such a powerful word, I know
And this time, I’m going to say it and truly mean it with all my heart

I LOVE you Mom, I have LOVED you ever since I laid eyes on you
That beautiful loving face welcoming me to the world and into your arms

I LOVE you Mom, because no matter how upset you got, your love for me was undying
And you were always there, whenever I needed you, guiding me in the right way

I LOVE you Mom, I LOVE you and I still LOVE you
So Happy Mother’s Day mom; you have your own little space in my heart that can never disappear
