The wind whistled through the trees as Raish bolted past the other three, her eyes steaming with tears. She weaved through the branches, one occasionally whipping her face or arms and leaving small scratches.
"Raish! Raish!" Bablane cried out, clutching onto the dragon tear upon her finger, which now burned as if it had just come from a fire. Without considering what could happen, she took off after her friend. Unfortunately, Raish was very well trained on how to cover her trail, even if she was having a mental breakdown.
Within a minute of taking off, Bablane was clueless to where her friend had run off to, looking rather distressed. "Bablane!" The young voice of Kace yelled, a large black wolf landing beside the older girl with Kace on top. "Telemkis can track her, but we have to hurry." Kace said, pulling her friend upon the shapeshifter's back. "Hold on tight..."
A fair warning, for as soon as Telemkis took one giant leap foward, the ride wasn't nearly as smooth as Bablane could of hoped. Kace, who often went off alone with this boy, didn't seem at all bothered. Of course, this came as no surprise to Bablane what so ever.
Telemkis suddenly stopped infront of a huge cave, growling and furiously scratching the ground. Kace and Bablane jumped off, letting their friend morph into his regular self. He sighed, looking at the two of them. "She went in there. Poor girl must be so confused... if only Waren hadn't--"
"Let's go." Kace growled, cutting off Telemkis and moving infront of the two. Bablane and Telemkis exchanged looks, following their younger acquintance in. Darkness swallowed Kace as she went farther in, Telemkis close behind. Bablane stopped, looking rather reluctant to go in. 'This can't be safe...' She thought, quickly running to catch up with swift feet.
A scream escaped her lips as rough hands caught her arms and torso, pulling her so tight together that she could barely talk, much less move. Through gritted teeth, she struggled, though it only brought her to a weaker stage than before.
"You tricked us! You betrayed us! You--OW!" Telemkis could be heard to her right, whimpering in pain as something hit him with a thud. His breathing got heavy, and Kace could be heard crying to Bablane's left, unable to struggle like the older two had.
"At last, the crew I was looking for. Well, the two on the outside don't matter, though the boy has a unique talent. The girl, though, we can just kill her off. Its the one in the middle I want..." A snarling voice said through the dark, a rather large man stepping foward. His skin was dark, and looked rough as stone, and his eyes black like rocks.
"Wait! WAIT! You promised! You promised not to hurt them!" Raish's voice could be heard, and she quickly ran foward, looking desperate. Bablane couldn't help notice a strange look in her eyes, though. "You PROMISED!" She said loudly.
"My dear, do I look like a trustworthy type? I promised no one would be killed the other night, but still that pale chick got it good. I don't keep my word..." The Titan snarled, Raish looking like she had been slapped in the face. That 'pale chick' was her best friend... the one she recently lost. The Titan turned back to his captives, grinning and rubbing his hands together. "I must say, you're a beautiful pair of ladies... I could have some fun with you. The little one is weak, but quite lovely, yes... the older one, strong..." He said, looking off in the distance. Bablane caught Raish's eyes, noticing her suddenly wink.
"Listen..." Raish suddenly said, stringing her bow and aiming it to Bablane. "I'm sorry..." There was a long silence, a stiff one where no one moved. Telemkis was still groaning in pain, completely knocked out, while Kace whimpered and watched in horror, looking as if it was her own death she saw. The aroow flew... but not to Bablane. The Titan stood, a shocked expression on his rock face. Raish looked as if she were about to boil with anger, getting right up in his face.
"That girl... was my sister... my best friend... and I swear to the Night I won't rest untill everyone one of your men pays!" She growled, kicking him square in the chets and watching him fall. The guards all released their prisoners, rushing to the aide of their fallen leader. Bablane pulled Telemkis to his feet, the group clustering together near the back of the cave. "A wise plan, Raish, but we have two problems..." Bablane growled, looking sternly towards her friend. "What would that be?" Raish asked quietly.
"Well, first of all, our best means of escape is knocked out. Second of all, how the hell do you expect to get through all them...?" |
