I'd fallen asleep again. I woke up to find myself on the couch downstairs.
I remembered than, that Rick and I had been watching The Lion King.
I sat up, cleaned up my hair and brushed the sleep out of my eyes. I paused, noticing a strange silence throughout the house. I stood and slowly walked up the stairs, my sock feet making almost no noise.
I peeked into Claire and Jeff's room. Claire was sound asleep. Rick and his family had gone home I guessed. I found myself feeling lonely again, and wandered around quietly.
Soon, I headed downstairs to do a puzzle. I was unsure of whether to finish one, or start a new one.
In the end, I decided to finish the one Rick and I had started.
After a while I popped upstairs, My stomach growled for food. I had thought about it, and I didn't remember eating yesterday. I had always shook my head saying I wasn't hungry.
I headed up stairs again to find Claire in the kitchen; cooking.
"Hi." I smiled, "How's..Dad?"
"Oh, Fine. He just had a small asmtha attack. He'll be home tomorrow."
I hugged Claire tightly. "I was scared."
"Yes, I know Kitten. Rick told me, so I came home."
"H-He called you?"
"Yes," She smiled, rubbing the back of my head lightly. "He was worried about you."
I grinned, "What's for lunch..?"
"Soup, and Sandwiches. Afterwards you can help me make cookies for Jeff. His favorite."
I felt my happiness fly again. Jeff was Ok. And he would be for awhile. Excitement was taking over, and I decided to make it a happy return.
After lunch, I bounced to my room and made him a card. And a banner. Claire agreed with them, and helped me put them up.
I was happy she didn't mind me calling her Mom, or Jeff Dad.
Because I didn't feel I needed to call my Birth mother, a mother. I guess by this time..She might have had more kids. Though, I wondered.. If she had kept them, or not.
Would she ask to have me back someday?
I re-asked the question, Would Claire give me back?
