love in its own

When you care about someone more than you do yourself
When you aren’t afraid to admit when you need their help
When you cherish who they are and who they will be
This is when you know what true love can mean

When you forgive someone the most hurtful betrayal
When they make you believe that you never could fail
When you trust them with all the secrets that you keep inside
This is when you learn all that true love can abide

When you are brought to laughter just by the look on their face
When you love being with them and don’t feel you need space
When they are all you can think of and all that you need
This is when you see the places that true love can lead

When your heart can be warmed just by the look in their eyes
When you look to them for advice like it’s the word of the wise
When you look into the future and still see them in your life
This is when you understand all that true love can survive

When you would hand them your heart and wouldn’t think twice
When you would stand right beside them throughout any fight
When you finally realize that they are the reason you breathe
This is when you see how true love gives and receives

When someone completes the person that you wish to be
When you’re beside them each day but still you feel free
When you would cease to exist without their love in your life
This is when your true love becomes the brightest of lights
