This is part 2 of my idea's backstory. Please note: if you haven't read The Fall and the War of the Ancients some of this might not make sense. Enjoy, and please tell me what you think.

    dotsThe Time of Great Darknessdots

While the Ancients may have all but died out at the end of the War of the Ancients (aside from the Soothsayers and the Great Ones), this paved the way for new races to appear. Among the many races whose golden age was during this period were the Valhallans, one of the greatest races to have ever lived. While the demon threat had not entirely vanished, there isolation had meant they became more like an alien race, no longer possessing a leader strong enough to launch another invasion. This would not continue forever though....
A demon rose to power within the demonic realms, and did the one thing the mortal races had long feared: he united the whole of the demonic race, and now unleashed this horde on the universe. Even Bane had not matched the chaos they created, the alliance seemed powerless to stop this force. The war grew to a stalemate though, the demons fearful of attempting an assault on the remaining allied worlds, but the allies unable to fight back. For millions of years, neither side seemed able to break the deadlock, till one astonishing turn of events.
What occured that day has passed into legend, most not believing what had occured. A small mortal uprising on a demon held world, led by a figure known as the "True Chosen One", defeated the occupiers and drove them from their world. Though the leader died, this resistance gave the allies fresh hope, and suddenly the demons seemed to lose their conquered worlds quickly, slowly being forced back towards the demonic realms again. Having killed the leader of this horde, the allies realised something had to be done to avoid these events occuring again.
Those demons who had been "tainted" by alien DNA were to be left in the demonic realms, but those who were still largely demon were taken to a parallel universe and trapped there, in the hope that they would never return. This was not the last they would hear from either race though.....
As the universe attempted to recover from the war, it was to be attacked again. A mysterious alien race, originating from the far north of the universe, struck with alarming speed before any defences could be prepared. Dubbed the Harvesters because they stripped worlds of their resources, this race was only stopped when they attempted to attack the world of Orion, where a weapon was found that they had a weakness to, which helped the allies to drive them back.
Both invasions had been stopped, but at great cost to the universe. Things would never be the same again.....
    Effect on the main story:
Both demon races were far from beaten. All they needed was for someone to arrive to unite them properly. This was also unlikely to be the last that was heard of the Harvesters, for their homeworld was never found.
This was not the last time the world of Orion would influence a war, and the "True Chosen One" had not made his last appearance in this universe.

if you're not planning on writing all of this in a book, then you probably should think about it....there is so much story the world will miss if this isn't all part of a prequel i guess. you shouldn't release it until the end of all of your books though, so that everyone will want to know how it all started. lol not to sound like a smelly agent or anything like that.

the whole part about the harvesters and them wanting resources and there being a secret weapon able to defeat them reminded me of the movie signs. that is not meant to offend you. all i am saying is perhaps not having them so mysterious would help make this plot more yours.

    once again...loved it.
sounds like this story has been playing in your head for quite a while. it is safe to say now that i am definitely jealous, but also completely in love. with the book.
