Description:

Different...what we have is just not what others can connect their fingers to.

Always Leaving

Let's make a trade
I'll write you an ending
if you offer me a little aid
with this capture

it's not that she got away
or that she whispered another man's name
it's that she has been forced away
from the throes of rapture

if I could have a little help with my grief
a little way of reminding myself
that she is not that far removed from my life
or the memories that challenge my tears

You and I
we were constructed of echoing sounds
promises that reverberated off of absent tongues
others had the same ideas of unlimited desire
of a need that grew to no measured size
but they couldn't hold those promises true forever
just liars swallowed up by familiar cages

Let's drop this whole act
that we can do this any better
then our ancestors did before this age of fact
and reasoning killed our chances of falling apart

cause all we want to do in the end
is fall apart

Let's drop this whole act right now
that we can be more in love than anyone else
if we keep competing then a bitter end is what we will allow
let's just say for the time being that maybe we are not better,

but different
we are indeed falling apart

Let's just say for the time being that we are different
till we figure out what this is
cause we have a need that decays when it isn't spilling
and blood is always spilling when tears are giving
but we are not bleeding
when we are belly up in the waves of absence
in the waves of an ocean of thoughts between us

falling apart inside
I am giving everything to be beside you

so let's make a trade before the darkness leaves
and the light of the sun breaks up these terms of commitment
with its putrid beliefs that we can pull up our sleeves
and cancel our connections to others when they leave us unwillingly

I never wanted to go back to being just me
I never wanted to let you walk back
to a world that was just beginning to understand me
and had to let go of me just a little bit too early again

so the first thing I must do is ask you to be my wife
because that is what I trust you know the answer to
I am saying I need you in my life
because I couldn't imagine you leaving again and me still being alive
