You're the best in my eyes
and that I can not deny.

With a sway on the street
it's beautiful sight to be seen.

Wearing it I feel good inside
love of my tartan is highland pride.

People stop and say I look great
a smile forms across my face.

Fall or winter is most appealing
a warm touch to the cold season.

I strutt when i'm walking in a parade
my celtic ancestry will never fade.

This attachment to a piece of material,
goes beyond clothing it's truly unreal.

If you wonder and maybe dare
to see what is worn under there?

Beware if you sneek a peek
could see more than a mans white cheeks.

I love the humor and the whole thought of
"The Real thing" behind this write.

We all have asked ourselves this question one time or another...and it's very rare to actually get an answer.
There's just something about a Scotsman or Irishmen that tilts my boots anyway but still...what's going on down there???

The pride of being Scott or Irish is something that know one person can understand unless you have it.
The turmoil and horrors that plague those parts of the world...in past and even now are heart wrenching.. but you never hear them complain...or ask for pity.
They stand with pride, live, love and laugh louder then most. Wearing the colours of families with honor.

You say this is a silly little write...but it takes just as much thought to write a comedic poem as it does to write a sonnet...well close....haha
I'm horrible at this kind of thing and reading this not only makes me laugh but gives me a little lift in the spirits.

I love love love the picture too...hehe

    BRAVO

an enjoyable poem,as someone already said a very cheeky ending. the scots are a very proud nation, proud of their heritage and of their country. i know because i am one of them and have on occasion wore a kilt,i also know what,s underneath. you have captured the spirit of scotland in your poem, well done.

Heh, heh! This is cute, and delightfully mischevious!

HE HE, I like how you took an age old question and used it for a bit of humor.
I have always wondered if they wore anything else under that stretch of material.

The picture does do the write some justice. I like the way you play with words here to peak the interest of the reader and while you used words to describe your mind set here, the picture enhanced your point. Maybe the picture was the whole point.

Beware if you sneek a peek
could see more than two white cheeks

This being my favorite stanza gives me a little chuckle because of the question always asked.

Thanks for that bit of humor in a less than humorous day.

    Respect and Admiration

      ***EDIT***

    You're so cheeeeeeky!!

Oh gosh, hehehe...my boyfriend is Scottish and I know if I show this to him it will make him howl with laughter!

Jokes aside, you're right, y'know: the Celts really do love their kilts and it goes far beyond fashion. It's a type of patriotism, displaying loyalties and traditions, a part of heritage that no amount of time can render obsolete when this type of spirit lives on within.

Suggestions-wise, I'd like to see you pad this out a bit more. It's fantastic that you think outside the box and write original ideas down in a poetic form, and I want more!
My own ideas are jumping in now: you've designed this with a rhyme in mind. If you did expand, would you keep the same tempo, or could you layer in another rhyme running alongside the original?
I'd like to read more about the Scots' attatchment to the kilt; what do you think it signifies to them? Why hasn't it gone out of fashion? How do women feel about kilts, and other, non-Scottish men?
And anything else you'd care to share :p

    Always good to read you!

sort of an amusing, playful bit of writing. simply describes a personal preference, the type of feeling come upon an author, in relation to a reader able to relate...well done.
