This was for a poetry writing assignment for which I had to write about a word I didn't know the meaning of. I looked up bizarre sports on google and came up with zorbing, which is basically luging inside of a plastic ball. I however was not able to learn the definition until after I read the poem, so this is pretty abstract.

    dotsTo be a Pro Zorberdots

It is plucking the marrow from desire
    and running
breathless relay with that shining purple waiting
    to melt your pocket,
    to infect with passion.
That’s what Coach gave you gift-wrapped
    in promise and scotch-tape sincerity.
    He said,
“To zorb is to find twenty better ways to breathe.”
You crossed that line into Zorbland.
    Were you never content breathing?
You didn’t learn to grab the bull
    but throw it,
    horns first even.
It should be a constellation now.
    You absorbed zorbing,
leaving its color in sandy footprints,
giving away the taste in the victory you kissed
    and made love to.
One day we knew you were gone.
Fallen off a ship they named “Destiny”
only to drown in a box of Wheaties
    somewhere in Finland.
Desire was green the whole time,
    always chasing purple,
    while purple stayed in Oblivious,
enchanted by the fragrance of Bliss.
